Course Description
The course provides instruction on effective methods for the delivery of special education needs (SEN) training for students with autism disorders. The course reviews the basic typology of the autism spectrum, spanning Asperger's, Autism and PDD-NOS, and discusses appropriate interventions that are related to this spectrum of disorders.
The course additionally delves into techniques used for identifying, assessing and characterising autism expressions in young learners and ways to reliably cater for the educational needs of SEN candidates with autism. It also reviews a range of structured frameworks such as TEACCH, SCERTS and the PFT-support triad, that may be used to facilitate classroom management for learners with autism.
The schedule also includes cultural activities that will allow participants to explore and experience Irish culture and the vibrant city of Dublin.
