Equipping Educators Scheme

Equipping Educators Scheme

Starting January 2023, we are launching our Equipping Educators Scheme. This scheme is designed for schools and VET colleges whose teachers take part in Erasmus+ funded training courses. We understand that for institutions, securing funds for equipment and resources can be limited and while many countries may not face these challenges, many others are restricted in being able to provide quality education with adequate resources. Limited funding is a major issue, and it often means that students have to make do with outdated or insufficient materials. Limited resources can have a serious impact on students’ learning and achievement. By working to overcome this problem, educators can ensure that their students have the tools they need to succeed. This is where the Equipping Educators Scheme can help. For each group attending, you will receive vital equipment or resources used during the training, free of charge. You will not only learn how to use the equipment during the course but be able to take the equipment back to your institution to be used in the classroom. How The ‘Equipping Educators Scheme’ Works We have a range of courses that are eligible for the Equipping Educators Scheme. Simple view the course list and select a training course with the Equipping Educators Scheme logo featured. The groups must fall into the following criteria: Eligible Equipment/Resources *All electronic equipment will be supplied with the standard warranty/guarantees. How To Apply For The ‘Equipping Educators Scheme’ Simply visit our list of courses and choose an applicable course. Once booked, you are automatically enrolled into the scheme. Need Further Information? If you are a school or VET college who is interested in applying for the scheme, we encourage you to get in touch. We would be happy to answer any questions you have, and we look forward to supporting you in your work with students.

Erasmus+ Shape Your Future – TPM 3 in Spain

We met up with our partners for the 3rd Erasmus+ Project Shape Your Future TPM in Salamanca hosted by Biderbost Boscan & Rochin SL. The Transnational Project Meeting took place on the 23rd and 24th of August 2022. This meeting was a great opportunity to present our work on the project and to discuss future plans. We were also able to visit some of the sites in Salamanca, which gave us a great opportunity to see some of the work that our partners are doing. The Shape Your Future is designed to help disadvantaged young people to find opportunities in the labour market and develop entrepreneurial skills. The project targets youth workers, and the platform, application and handbook will help them to work online with youth more effectively. Our partner hosted the Transnational Project Meeting on the 23rd and 24th of August in Salamanca. This meeting gave us a great opportunity to present our work on the project so far and to discuss future plans. We were also able to visit some of the project’s sites in Salamanca, which gave us a great opportunity to see the work that our partners are doing. On the second day, we decided on how to best promote the intellectual outputs. A dissemination plan was also drawn up to ensure we are able to reach as many people as possible. we discussed the mobile app (IO2), its content and its relation to the platform. Finally, we planned the online youth exchange that will take place in autumn! This youth exchange will enable young people to meet online with their peers from all over Europe, as well as to improve their skills in the fields of employability, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy. We have created a wealth of resources for both young people as well as youth workers. The resources for young people will vastly improve their employability skills, as well as help them find volunteering/job opportunities near them. To access these resources and apply for opportunities, click here. You can also create a free account and upload your CV! The booklet for youth workers and schools will help them deliver training sessions and courses on employability, entrepreneurship and digital literacy. The resource includes non-formal learning activities that can be implemented either online or in person. The booklet will be available for free to download on the SYF Platform! We are developing an app for young people, where they can receive notifications for new opportunities in their area and partner countries. Don’t forget to follow the official Facebook page for Shape Your Future to keep up-to-date on all activities.

Erasmus+ “Shape Your Future” 2nd Job Shadowing Mobility in Ireland

We hosted an exciting and productive Erasmus+ Job Shadowing mobility in Ireland as part of the Shape Your Future Project last month! Our partners from Poland, Portugal, Romania and Spain joined us in Dublin from the 16th to the 25th August. We shared good practices and created helpful materials on employability skills for the project that are available for free! Job Shadowing activities with Ballyfermot Youth Service Ballyfermot Youth Service is a well-established Irish NGO working in Dublin with young people from disadvantaged background, and we partnered with them to deliver some engaging activities! We visited their youth and sport centre, where they explained their impact on local young people and the neighborhood. We also took part in their outreach activity and we gained new perspectives and practices to engage and interact with the target group! Workshops We delivered three interactive workshops for the participants about employability!  The first one focused on finding your transferable skills to succeed in job interviews.  The second one provided insightful materials to understand your own working style and consequently improve your results and relationships at the job place. The third workshop was run by Ballyfermot Youth Service and taught us what mentoring young people is and what challenges mentors face. We learned a lot during these workshops and we will make the materials available for youth workers and young people on the SYF online platform! Development of project materials As part of the project, we created two main resources on employability skills: a guidebook and interview simulations videos! The online guidebook includes a theoretical part about communication skills and practical advice for each job interview steps: preparation, attendance, answers to common questions and follow-up! You can download it for free here! The 2 video tutorials show two bad and two good interview simulations that put into practice the tips explained in the guidebook! You can watch them all on our HESL FB page ! Video Tutorial 1 https://fb.watch/dzm6-A79wJ/ Video Tutorial 2 https://fb.watch/dzmcN25Ee5/ These materials are very comprehensive and based on young people’s needs analysis, so make sure to check them out on the SYF project platform and SYF FB page! We also created a visual brochure and it is available for you on our HESL FB page! Erasmus+ Excursion and Group activities But what is Erasmus without culture and fun!? That is why we organised some group activities that helped us bond and share some amazing country specific traditions! Thanks to Ballyfermot Youth Service we had an amazing day kayaking on the Grand Canal in Dublin! The training is part of the centre’s activities for young people and we got the chance to try our balance skills and the cool Irish water! We also visited Dublin and took a cultural walking tour with the author and historian Liz Gillis. She narrated the Irish revolution around the city and she portrayed the role of brave women during the war! One word: inspirational! Last but not least, we shared cultural traditions and music during the cultural night! Each group brought some food from their country and we danced together to some iconic songs!  Thanks to all the participants for their good energy and to Ballyfermot Youth Service for their amazing work! Even in these crazy times, we spent 10 amazing days together and we developed some helpful materials to keep the project moving forward! What’s next? After the first and second Erasmus+ Job Shadowing Mobility in Lisbon and in Dublin, it’s Salamanca’s turn now! So, do you also want to be part of a great experience like this and create resources for young people? Check out our HESL FB page and website for this and other project opportunities!

Erasmus+ Focus Groups With Youth Workers And Young People

As part of the Erasmus+ Project Shape Your Future, we ran two stimulating employment focus groups in March and April! As you can read below, we talked with youth workers and young people from Ireland about recent challenges of remote working and youth employment. 30th March 2021 – Focus Group and Roundtable with Youth Workers Our session with youth workers aimed at sharing experiences and thoughts about the impact of the pandemic on their work and the use of digital tools to engage young people online. Participants agreed that digital tools helped them keep in contact with their cohort despite restrictions. However, engaging young people is becoming more difficult, because the online environment is wearing off its initial appeal. Youth workers also reported a sense of frustration for not being able to reach all those in need and to offer the same good quality support of face-to-face interactions. Nevertheless, they gained digital skills and reflected upon their professional figure and their presence in the local community.  15th April 2021 – Employment Focus Group with Young People Our activity with young people aged 18-24 was a good opportunity to share some thoughts about the lack of skills required to find and keep a job during and after the pandemic. Starting from the questions and answers of our survey, young people shared their experiences in job search. They agreed that the current situation has increased the challenges in finding work, keeping a job and changing the current employment for a better place.  They claim they need more training, especially in CV writing, communication and job-specific skills. Also, they strongly hope to go back to in-person interactions to expand their network and receive the training they have lacked so far. Thank you to everyone who joined us online for these employment focus groups! We collected some interesting ideas and useful information that will help us create training material for young people and youth workers throughout the project! Check out the Shape Your Future Facebook Page for updates on materials and local activities! If you want to share your thoughts on these topics and/or get involved in other Erasmus+ Projects, make sure to check our Facebook page and explore our website for our next free activities, or email us at [email protected].

Erasmus+ Project Shape Your Future

We are proud to announce that the Erasmus+ Project “Shape Your Future” has been approved! We are very excited to be a partner on this project, coordinated by Youth Vision Association, a member of the implementation team of the “Constanta – Romanian Youth Capital 2021-2022”.  “Shape Your Future” is focussed on giving young people from disadvantaged backgrounds a chance at education and social inclusion. It is a project of interest for young people aged between 14 and 35 who are looking for work or learning opportunities.  “Shape Your Future” is a 2 year project developed in partnership with youth organisations from Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Poland and Romania, with a budget of 250,000 Euros and is financed from European funds, through the Erasmus Plus programme, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships. The “Shape Your Future” project was developed by identifying the needs and opportunities of young people on the labour market. There is a common need to create a space for young people and youth workers where they can find opportunities for professional and personal development. The objectives of the project are aimed at the social inclusion of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, integration into the labour market, facilitating access to educational and innovation programs and developing entrepreneurial skills. Young people from 5 communities answered a questionnaire related to the need for integration into the labour market and opportunities for personal and professional development. The research found that it is necessary to create tools and workspaces online, where they can experience different programs to bring together stakeholders from different fields and sectors (public, private and civil society). Taking into account these needs, the “Shape Your Future” project will create the necessary tools to enable young people to develop their social, entrepreneurial and professional skills in the labour market, and make these tools available to young people from the 5 countries. Among the tools developed during the project will be an online platform, dedicated to young people looking for a job or learning opportunities, This will create an environment that brings together employers, NGOs, institutions and local authorities. An application will also be developed, through which young people can receive real-time information about existing opportunities on the labour market, materials will be uploaded and there will be a discussion forum. A handbook will be created for non-formal education related to social inclusion and entrepreneurial skills, which will contain data collected from at least 20 organisations dealing with young people. There will also be training courses and job shadowing internships, exchanges of experience and events to promote the project results in the partner communities.
