Course Description
Classroom management strategies are one of the most challenging aspects of teaching. This scenario-based classroom management training course uses Scenario-Based Learning (SBL) and drama-based techniques to provide a safe, immersive environment where teachers can rehearse realistic situations, reflect on their decisions, and build confidence in how they respond under pressure.
In the first part of the course, participants will engage in realistic role-plays and interactive scenarios to practice responding to realistic classroom challenges, from low-level disruption to complex conflict situations. The course provides positive strategies for de-escalation, motivation and behaviour management. Teachers will explore trauma-informed and restorative responses, ensuring they have a toolkit that supports student well-being while maintaining a productive learning environment.
The course also teaches how scenario-based classroom management training can be adapted for different school contexts for professional development and in-school training. In the second part of the course, educators will learn how to design their own simulations. Using both digital and low-tech tools, participants will create interactive "decision-point" scenarios that can be used for their own professional development or to train colleagues within their school.
This reflective practice allows teachers to receive feedback in a low-stakes environment, building the "muscle memory" needed to stay calm and effective when these situations occur in real life.
The course is suitable for all educators and will be adapted to specific needs and school types, from primary to secondary and VET.
Course Content
- Principles of Scenario-Based Learning (SBL) for teacher training
- De-escalation techniques: Managing low-level disruption and conflict
- Trauma-informed and restorative responses to challenging behaviour
- Designing interactive digital scenarios for staff training and induction
- Reflective practice: Debriefing and feedback techniques
- Creating a school-specific behaviour scenario pack and protocols
- Role-play and simulation: Testing responses in a safe environment

Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Apply scenario‑based strategies to respond effectively to varied behavioural situations.
- Design interactive training scenarios for in‑school professional development.
- Foster a supportive and resilient classroom climate through consistent responses.
- Implement de-escalation protocols confidently under pressure.
- Lead reflective debriefs with colleagues following classroom incidents.
- Bridge the gap between school policy and practical, everyday classroom management.
Assessment and Certificates
Assessment of performance will be through delegate-completed portfolio of work. The final course certification for successful completion is a college-issued “Course Certificate of Completion”, for each module studied. In addition, where applicable, delegates will receive relevant EuroPass certificates.
