Course Description
Our Erasmus+ teacher training course on "Project-Based Learning for CLIL lessons" is a practical teacher training course designed for educators who want to make CLIL lessons more engaging through real-life projects that develop language, subject knowledge, collaboration, creativity, and 21st-century skills.
The course supports teachers, trainers and education staff in combining Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) with Project-Based Learning (PBL), so that students can develop subject knowledge and language competence through meaningful projects, inquiry, teamwork, and communication. Moreover, participants will explore how CLIL methodology and PBL methodology can work together to create student-centred learning experiences that are rooted in real-world contexts and aligned with curriculum goals.
Participants will learn how to design project-based CLIL lessons that support academic vocabulary, communication in English or another second language, critical thinking and learner autonomy.
In addition, the course focuses on practical classroom implementation. As a result, participants will leave with adaptable tools, lesson ideas, and a personal portfolio of project-based CLIL activities.
By the end of our "Project-Based Learning for CLIL lessons" course, educators will feel more confident in teaching subjects in English through real-life projects, while also creating active lessons for 21st-century skills.
The course is suitable for all educators, as it will be adapted to their needs and school type (primary, secondary, VET).
Course Content
- Core principles of CLIL and Project-Based Learning methodology
- Designing project-based CLIL lessons with clear content objectives, language objectives, and real-life learning outcomes
- Planning curriculum-aligned PBL units that make CLIL lessons more engaging, active, and student-centred
- Applying CLIL scaffolding strategies to support vocabulary, comprehension, interaction, and language confidence
- Facilitating group work, student interaction, and meaningful communication in English or another additional language
- Assessment and feedback to evaluate both content and language
Learning Outcomes
At the end of the course delegates will be able to:
- Understand how CLIL methodology and Project-Based Learning can be combined in effective classroom practice
- Design project-based CLIL lessons that develop both language competence and subject knowledge
- Plan PBL units that promote inquiry-based learning, collaboration, creativity, and 21st-century skills
- Facilitate student-centred learning through teamwork and final project outcomes
- Use rubrics, feedback, and authentic assessment to evaluate both content learning and language development
- Bring back a portfolio of practical CLIL project ideas
Assessment and Certificates
Assessment of performance will be through a delegate-completed portfolio of work. The final course certification for successful completion is a college-issued “Course Certificate of Completion”. In addition, where applicable, delegates will receive relevant EuroPass certificates.
