We are delighted to announce that our new Erasmus+ initiative, the Green STEAM project – Environmental Literacy & Climate Change in Vulnerable Areas, has been officially approved! Coordinated by GeoCamp Iceland, the project addresses gaps in climate change education in schools. It equips students and teachers with the skills to observe, measure, and interpret environmental changes through outdoor learning climate activities, hands-on STEAM education activities and field-based environmental research.
About the Project
The Green STEAM project is an Erasmus+ KA220 school project. It empowers schools to become active agents of climate literacy through field-based research for students, environmental sensors in education, and digital storytelling for climate action. By combining science, technology and international mobilities, it helps connect global climate challenges with local realities and strengthens data literacy for students across Europe.

Aims and Objectives
The Green STEAM project aims to strengthen climate change education in schools and STEAM education in Europe by creating practical tools, training, and digital learning resources. It supports teachers and students in student-led environmental research using sensor-based and digital tools. By linking learners across regions, it promotes collaboration, data literacy for students, and sustainable education practices.
Project Duration
⏱ 30 months
📆 Start date: 01.09.2025
📆 End date: 29.02.2028

Project Activities
Activities will include international training on climate literacy (LTTAs), student-led environmental research, and digital storytelling. Partners will organise fieldwork in vulnerable areas, use environmental sensors in education, and develop QR-coded learning stations with an interactive digital platform for environmental monitoring.
The Partners
- GeoCamp Iceland (Iceland)
- HESL (Ireland)
- Sibinj Elementary School (Croatia)
- Technical University of Liberec (Czech Republic)
- Polygonal (Italy)
- 3rd Primary School of Sitia (Greece)
- Infotech (Poland)

Project Results
Partners will create field guides, digital learning tools, and environmental data repositories for students. Participants will gain practical research experience through field-based research, improving climate change education in schools and student engagement. QR-coded learning stations will provide real-time insights, while digital storytelling for climate action and AI-supported data analysis in schools will increase climate literacy about Europe’s vulnerable areas. The project will ensure long-term integration of outdoor STEAM education, fostering sustainable learning practices and informed climate action.
